ABOUT
FRIENDS OF
EDUCATION

Advocating for a better education system in Alberta.

WHO WE ARE.

Friends of Education is an independent, non-partisan not-for-profit organization providing research-backed insights and strategic advocacy focused on advancing education issues in Alberta.

We provide essential research and analysis, highlight key priorities and foster informed advocacy on education issues impacting students across Alberta. Our initiatives aim to raise awareness about critical educational issues, propose workable solutions and mobilize communities to advocate for meaningful change.

OUR CORE VALUES.

We believe in the power of education and the importance of advocacy. As we address tough challenges and pursue positive change, our core values guide our work.

Purposeful advocacy

We are dedicated to championing key education issues and supporting measurable, positive outcomes for students. By mobilizing a powerful civic voice and informing evidence-based policy we ensure high-quality education remains a fundamental priority for Alberta's future.

Future-focused

As the world changes, it is imperative that our education system transforms to meet future challenges and adapt to new realities. We  see change as an opportunity rather than a threat. We believe it is crucial to be proactive in pursuing innovative solutions and preparing students for a future that is constantly evolving.

Power of community

Our strength lies in channelling our collective voices to advocate for change, collaborating with parents, students, and concerned citizens to drive meaningful progress. By empowering diverse stakeholders, we amplify voices in support of change. Together, we build leverage.

Unwavering ambition

Ambition fuels growth, innovation, and change. It is the driving force that helps us set daring goals, push boundaries and aim for the kind of impact that transforms systems, communities and individual lives. It may seem audacious, but we believe that Alberta students deserve it and the future of Alberta demands it.

Research

We act as a vital evidence hub, actively seeking and analyzing current data and emerging trends to illuminate the underlying dynamics of education issues. Our core value is to translate complex research from Alberta and across the broader Canadian context into digestible, actionable insights that power the advocacy efforts of our community and inform policymakers.
